FAQ - Details

How do I invite friends?
  1. To invite friends to the site, click on the green “invite” button on the left hand side of the page above the friends section.
  2. Enter your friend’s email addresses. For multiple addresses, make sure they are separated by a comma.
  3. Add an optional message to your friends before you send out the email
  4. Click “submit” and your friends will receive an email inviting them to SmoreCamp.
  5. When your friends join the site, they will automatically be added as one of your friends.
How do I add someone as a friend on the site?   back to top
  1. Enter your friend’s name in the “search” tab in the upper right hand corner of the screen and click “go”.
  2. You will see your friend’s name on the Search Results page.
  3. Click on their photo or name and select “+Friend” and they will receive a friend request from you.
  4. Once they accept your friend request, they will be added to your friends section.
  5. Can’t find your friends? Follow the “invite a friend” steps to bring them onto the site.

  1. When you have a friend request it will show up on the request section on the right hand side of your page.
  2. It will say you have a friend request and when you click the green bubble, the name of the person will show up.
  3. You can chose to “accept” or “reject” the friend request.
  4. If you “accept” the friend request the friend will be added to your friends section.
How do I organize my friends?   back to top
The friends section uses categories to organize your friends. “Best Friends” is the default category for your friends.
  1. To add new categories, click on “organize friends” at the bottom of the friends section.
  2. Click the green “create” button on the screen
  3. Enter the name of the new category and click “Save”.
  4. You can now drag and drop your friends into the category you wish.

Pranks – What is a prank?   back to top
A prank is a graphic that appears behind a user’s wall post. A prank is a unique tool that allows users to relive the fun of camp online.
How do I send a prank?   back to top
  1. Click “pranks” from the actions section on the left side of your page.
  2. Select the person you would like to prank from the drop down menu on the right.
  3. Select the prank you would like from the list.
  4. Click the green “prank” button at the bottom.
  5. The prank then shows up on the prankees profile until they choose to remove it.
  6. You will also be able to see a record of the pranks you have sent and received on the right side of your page.

To remove a prank, click “Remove” on the right hand side of the page under Pranks.
Songbooks - How do I create a songbook and upload songs?   back to top
  1. Click “Song Book” from the actions section on the left side of your page.
  2. Click the green “create” button to create a new song book and a box will drop down where you can enter the title, avatar/photo and a description. Click the green “save” button to save the song book.
  3. Once your song book is created you can click the green “add” button in the right corner to add songs.
  4. Once you click the green “add” button a box will pop up that allows you to upload your songs. Adding songs to your song book is as simple as dropping your mp3 or m4a files on the upload graphic in the box. You can also locate files on your computer by clicking on the “browse” button.
  5. Select the songs you would like to add and click “upload”. Your songs will then automatically begin uploading.
  6. Click “close” in the dialog box to view your song book.
Songbooks - How do I listen to my songs?   back to top
  1. Click on Song Books from the actions section on the left hand side of your page
  2. Click on the song book you want to listen to.
  3. Click the song title or the player icon.
  4. A box will pop up with all the songs and the album cover.
  5. Select the song you want to listen to and press play.
  6. Enjoy your music.

  1. Navigate to your friends’ SmoreCamp page.
  2. Jump to their Song Book section above their photo.
  3. Click on the song book you want to listen to.
  4. Click the song title or the player icon.
  5. A box will pop up with all the songs and the album cover.
  6. Select the song you want to listen to and press play.
  7. Enjoy your friend’s song book.
Cool or Not - What is “cool or not”?   back to top
Cool or not is a poll that you can create and let your friends vote on any number of topics that you create.

  1. Click “cool or not” from the actions section on the left side of your page.
  2. Click the green “create” button to create a new cool or not and a box will drop down where you can enter the title, length of time the poll will be active, photo and description. Click the green “save” button to save the poll.
  3. Once you have entered in all the information, click the green “save” button and your poll is live!
  4. All of your friends will now be able to vote on your poll
  5. Your polls and your friends polls can be accessed through the Cool or Not button on the left side of your screen and on the cool or not section on the bottom right side of the screen.
  6. If you ever want to delete a poll, simply go into your cool or not section and click delete.
High 5 – what is a High 5?   back to top
A High 5 is a shout out that you can send to any of your friends. You can send a High 5, Low 5 or a pound.

  1. Click “High 5” from the actions section on the left side of your page.
  2. Select the person you would like to send a High 5 to from the drop down menu on the right.
  3. Select High 5, Low 5 or Pound from the list.
  4. Include a message to the person in the message section if you choose to do so.
  5. Click the green “send it” button at the bottom.
  6. The High 5 will show up on their wall and on the High 5 section on the right side of their page. You will also be able to see a record of the High 5’s you have sent and received on the right side of your page.
Gifts – What are gifts?   back to top
Gifts are camp specific presents that you can send to your friends.
How do I send a gift?   back to top
  1. Click “Send Gifts” from the actions section on the left side of your page.
  2. Select the person you would like to send a gift to from the drop down menu on the right.
  3. Select Package, S’more, Friendship Bracelet or Pet Rock from the list.
  4. Include a message to the person in the message section if you choose to do so.
  5. Click the green “send it” button at the bottom.
  6. The Gift will show up on their wall and on the Gifts section on the right side of their page. You will also be able to see a record of the Gifts you have sent and received on the right side of your page.
Feedback – What is feedback?   back to top
Feedback is a way for you, the user to tell us what you like or don’t like about the site.
How do I provide feedback?   back to top
  1. Click “Feedback” from the actions section on the left side of your page.
  2. Select the type of feedback you would like to provide from the drop down menu on the right.
  3. Include your message in the message section.
  4. Click the green “send it” button at the bottom and your feedback will be sent to us.
Report Abuse - What is it?   back to top
The report abuse section of the site is one way for us to actively monitor the site for safety provides users with a way to stop negative or unfriendly behavior.
How do I report abuse?   back to top
  1. Click “Report Abuse” from the actions section on the left side of your page.
  2. Enter the name of the user who is being unfriendly.
  3. Describe what the user did in the “describe incident” section.
  4. Click the green “send it” button at the bottom and your feedback will be sent to us. We will investigate the incident and take actions as necessary.
Activity Feeds - What are activity feeds?   back to top
The activity feed is the center of your profile for the site, where you can make posts to individuals, get updates from friends on photo albums, song books, pranks and much more. The feed serves as a timeline for you on the site, and helps keep you up to date with the activities of your friends. You can easily filter between your public and private messages on the feed by selecting the appropriate option under “Filter Messages”.

When you log onto the site, you will automatically default to the activity feed view. If you are in another section of the site, you can click on the “Home” icon on the top left of the site.
Activity Feeds – How do I post   back to top
  1. When you take an action on the site such as creating a photo album or songbook, these activities will automatically post to your friend’s activity feeds. The same automatic action will happen on your activity feed when your friends make similar updates.
  2. To send a message to a friend or group from your activity click the green “+message” button on top of the activity feed and a dialog box will open.
  3. In the dialog box, Select the recipient in the drop down menu from the “To” section. You can select a friend or send to any group that you belong to.
  4. To mark the message “private”, select the Mark Private box. This will allow the message to show up on your recipient’s page, but will not be visible to any other friends.
  5. You can also send attachments as part of the message. JPEG, .doc, .xls and .pdf are supported formats for the attachments.
“You” Section – What is it?   back to top
The “You” section includes your profile on the site, along with details that you want to share with your friends. When you first register on SmoreCamp, your basic information will automatically be populated on the Profile page. You can update this information at any time as “You” change.

To view your friends “You” section, click on your friends name, and then you can view their Details, Camps and Activities section.
“You” Section – Profile   back to top
Your profile includes the basic information that you need when you first sign up to the site, including your name, display name, email and camp. You can update your information when you first sign onto the site. Change your password, email, add an avatar, include a description about yourself. You can also include an im screen name and your birthday.

You can make the information in your profile private by selecting the door icon on the right hand side under “Private”. Once an item is selected as private, no one will be able to view this information except for you. You can change your privacy options at any time.
“You” Section – Details   back to top
The details tab lets your friends know more about you, by sharing favorite activities, interests, best camp moments, favorite TV shows, movies, books, etc. To update information, simply input your information in the dialog boxes to the right and click “save” at the bottom of the section.
You Section - Camps    back to top
You can list the camps you have attended as a camper or counselor. By clicking on the names of the camps it will take you to that camp’s Mycamp page.
You Section - Activities   back to top
The activities section allows you to list all your achievements and the activities you have participated in at camp. You can list the levels you reached in each activity as well as the years you achieved those levels.
You Section - Preferences   back to top
Your preferences determine if and how you are notified by the site. For example, you can set your preferences so that you receive an email when someone requests to be your friend or creates a songbook. Your preferences can be updated at any time.
Groups Section - What are they?   back to top
Groups allow you to communicate with a select group of people.
  1. The group administrator can chose to make the group public - where anyone can join the group; or they can make the group private, where the administrator has to invite and approve members of the group.
  2. Each group has a group wall, and all members of the group can post message to the wall and read other members’ posts.
How do I create a new group?   back to top
  1. Click the green “groups” tab on the top of your screen.
  2. Click the green “create” button to create a new group and a box will drop down where you can enter the title, photo and description. Default is a private group; uncheck the box to make it a public group. Click the green “save” button to save the group.
    1. If you select a public group, anyone can join the group.
    2. If you select a private group, you have to invite and approve members of the group.
  3. Once the group is created select that group name from the group page.
  4. Now you can invite your friends to the group. Click on “invite” and a list of your friends will automatically appear. Select the green “invite” button next to your friends name to invite them to the group. They will receive a group request on their wall.
  5. As the administrator of the group you can delete individual posts to the group wall as well as users.
  6. To send a message to your group click the green “+message” button from the group page.
  7. You can also send a group message from your home page by click the green “+message” button and selecting your group name as the recipient of the message. Your message will go to the group wall and will also show up as a private message on each group member’s wall.
How do I accept a group request on the site?   back to top
  1. When you have a group request it will show up on the request section on the right hand side of your page.
  2. It will say you have a group request and when you click the green bubble, the name of the group will show up.

The MyCamp section is your camp’s homepage on Smorecamp.com

  1. Click on the green MyCamp tab on the top of your page.

Search Section - How do I search for Camps on the site?   back to top
  1. Enter your Camp’s name in the “search” tab in the upper right hand corner of the screen and click “go”.
  2. You will see the members of the camp and any groups associated with that camp on the Search Results page.
  3. Click on the members’ photos or names and select “+Friend” and they will receive a friend request from you.
  4. Once they accept your friend request, they will be added to your friends section.

Status - What is a Status update?   back to top
Your status is a way to update your friends on what you are up to. Your status is on the right hand side of your page under your photo.
How do I update my Status?   back to top
  1. Click on the text next to Status
  2. A white box will pop up and you can enter new text.
  3. Click the green “save” button and your status update will be saved and your new status will be sent as a wall post to all your friends.
How do I update my Emotion?   back to top
  1. Select on one of the four emotions and it will automatically change your emotion.
